PAS to rally over Trump’s ‘Jerusalem move’

PAS has urged Muslims to protest in front of the US Embassy tomorrow against the country’s plans to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

In a statement today, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang said it was compulsory for all party members to attend.

“PAS invites all Muslims, regardless of race, school of thought and political affiliations to unite against (US president Donald) Trump’s declaration,” he said in a statement today.

Abdul Hadi said Jerusalem was the focal point of Muslim unity and US’ decision was tantamount to provocation.

He added that Trump’s declaration comes after the “success” of US-Zionist efforts to destabilise Arab states and recruit Saudi Arabia as an ally.

“This situation allowed for the secret new world order, where Muslim countries are being distracted by war and have forgotten the Palestinian struggle.

“The history of civilisation has shown that only Islam allows for justice in plural societies, where Christians and Jews can practice their faiths freely and peacefully.

“Do not expect peace from the US and the Zionists, who are global terrorists and the chief murderers of Muslims,” he said.

Earlier today, Trump declared that he recognised Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, and directed the State Department to relocate the US embassy from Tel Aviv.

Trump (photo) said the move was necessary as a “recognition of reality” that Jerusalem has long been the seat of the Israeli government.

White House officials said that realistically, the relocation of the embassy would take several years.

Trump’s declaration has inflamed much of the Arab world, who believe that Israel is occupying parts of Jerusalem illegally.
