Duo charged with making false claims of RM20 mil

A 54-year-old private company owner involved in oil and gas exploration, and a former Petronas assistant administration officer, claimed trial at the Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur today to making false claims amounting to US$5.565 million (RM20 million).

The owner, Yong Mee Lian, along with the former Petronas employee, Ahmad Ashraaf Kamarul Zaman, 29, were jointly charged with making three false claims to the amount of US$1.656 million (RM6.089 million), US$2.036 (RM7.228 million) and US$1.873 million (RM6.649 million), between March 24, 2015, and April 20, 2015.

Yong was represented by Mohd Fozi Md Zin while Ahmad Ashraaf was represented by lawyer Mohd Haziq Dhiyuddin Razali.

DPP Mohammed Heikal Ismail from the MACC appeared for the prosecution.

Sessions judge Madihah Harullah set bail at RM500,000 with one surety and fixed April 16 for a mention.
